i love this quote about dietrich bonhoeffer from a book i'm reading:
"...he had crossed a bridge, moved beyond the erudite, contentious paradigms and expositions and disputations of theology. His was, by then, a theology of the individual as Christ's witness, of a "religionless" Christianity, of Jesus as a constant spiritual teacher, immensely heartening yet terribly unnerving and demanding, rather than distant God worshipped on Sundays in church or acknowledged piously in prayer."
i don't think i've spent enough time thinking about what it means to be Christ's witness. it seems incredibly simple. i've thought of being a disciple, follower, friend, believer, lover - of Christ, but i haven't spent time soaking in what it means to be a witness. i'll have to think about it more. it makes me think of this great ben harper song...
the weather in tulsa today is great. it's about 73. this kind of weather energizes me, especially after a cold winter. a few random things i'm excited about these days... wearing flip flops, the tree that is blooming in front of my window, pete yorn, free wifi at panera (it is so cool!), new albums coming out this spring from the daves and their respective bands, the potok book i got yesterday, the russell girls beach trip coming up in may, my ipod (it still hasn't worn off), the U2 concert in dallas in october that april and i have floor tickets to, whitewater ranch this summer, my job...
the office is closed today to provide some rest time after the workshop. i didn't go to a lot of stuff this year. i did get to see a couple of good friends from auburn and that was great. it is so funny to see friends you haven't seen in a long time. none of us really seemed to have changed that much as far as appearance even though we hadn't seen each other in about 6 years. anyway, they are both in ministry which is very cool. it is always nice to reconnect. peace.
